Big Orange Roundtable: Week 4

1)What is your thought on Eric Berry’s Heisman chances? Should he play on offense in-order to increase his chances? Is Kiffin being to selfish saying Berry will not practice offense?
No doubt that Eric is a Heisman quality player, but I don't know if he is going to be playing for a team that will boost his chances. As far as playing him on offense, I will say this: I believe Lane Kiffin must utilize his best players where they can create opportunities for Tennessee to win. If that means putting him in at QB, WR, or even RB, then I am all for it... if it helps Tennessee win. I wouldn't say that Kiffin is selfish, I think he understands that defense is more important than offense.

2) Do you think Kiffin secretly wishes he would have held onto Tajh Boyd?
I still wonder about that call to let him go, but I believe Kiffin made his choice for a reason. He is looking for a certain type of guy (basically another Carson Palmer or Matt Leinert) to run his offense.

3) Is this the most excited you have been for a football season to start EVER?

A close 2nd. 2006 was my freshman year at UT, I was in the Pride of the Southland Band, we were coming off a lousy year and it seemed like all the emotion that stewed over the summer was just unleashed at the Cal game. I got to open "T" for the first time that game, and to this day, I have never heard anything louder in my life. From the field, the volume of the Neyland crowd that day was beyond deafening, almost white noise. Neyland hasn't been that loud since then.

4) A quick diversion from football and onto Basketball. Do you think that Bruce’s style of basketball is a deterrent to the one and done type players, due to the fact one and done-rs and top recruits are looking for more minutes and to be the center of attention?

I would think since Tennessee hasn't had any one and done players in recent memory, that it is a deterrent. Bruce tends to go for scrappier guys that get better as they get older. Scotty Hopson was slated to be a one and done guy, but he obviously had some work to do.
